Visit Korea = Seoul?
If you visit South Korea for the first time, you may choose Seoul.
But If you visit South Korea again, there's another good choice that I recommend strongly.
That's Busan.
You may have known, Busan is the second largest city in South Korea after Seoul and has over 3.3 million people.
Of course, there are so many foreigners in both cities.
Especially, in Seoul, one of the hugest cities in the world, There are so many people everywhere you see.
The population of Seoul excluding foreigners exceeds 10 million.
The number of subway lines exceeds 10.
There are always so many people every time everywhere, you may feel like a rush hour during the stay.
You must keep the line at the front of a restaurant every time you eat.
You must keep the line at the Bus stop and Subway Station too.
Take a taxi? That's hard.
Find the way? That's hard, too.
Seoul People are so kind, but always busy and have no time.
Here is an Alternative to Seoul.
However, Busan is different.
It is also a huge city but It has humanity.
Korean people call it 'Jeong'(정, 情)
In other words, Busan is the City of Jeong.
People in Busan are busy but... not that busy. haha :D
Originally, Busan in 1930' is a small city.
The popularity of Busan was only 200,000.
Through the Korean War, So many people who avoid war went down to Busan from the whole country including Seoul.
During the war, The popularity of Busan increased exponentially by more than 75%.
Finally, There are 900,000 people in Busan.
At one time during the war, Busan was the provisional capital city of Korea.
By the way, Busan could only accommodate 300,000 people at that time.
But A lot lot lot of people who avoid war and had to survive went to the mountain and made houses with tombstones.
So many people who left their hometowns got the ground here.
It became a big town, and it is called a tombstone village. (비석마을, Bi-Seok-Ma-Eul)
Times gone, It is famous for deformed architecture now.
If you look at the village from far away, you can think it's like Napoli in Asia.
But you look into the village close, you may scream "How can they stay here?"
(Of course, some people still live there.)
Fortunately, Busan has the ocean.
In other words, It is a Harbor city.
So, Even in wartime, trade could develop.
So many people in Busan worked too hard and never hesitated to do the dirty & dangerous work.
Thanks to that, Only In just 50 years, Busan has become a global city.
Seoul has lost a lot of past Korea, but Busan still has many historical traces left.
Don't think there is only Seoul to travel to Korea.
Busan is a great alternative to Seoul.
Too many Charming Points
Busan has too much charm.
- Beautiful Beaches.
- So many restaurants along the beach line.
- Luxurious Hotels with a scenery view.
- Delicious and Unique Food.
- Active and Dynamic People with Kindness.
- Interesting Historical sites.
- Exotic Traditional Markets.
- So many Festivals.
- And Not That Crowded City. :D
See, The number of subway lines is only 4.
So simple, right?
You can easily find a way to anywhere you want to go.
Distance from Seoul
It's not that far from Seoul.
Within 3 hours by train(KTX) or 1 hour by airplane.
So, One Day-trip is also possible.
(But, there are so many fun things, you can't leave in one day.)
Dynamic Busan, Visit Busan
Busan is a famous Ocean City.
You know, People who live nearby Ocean Beach are so energetic and dynamic.
So naturally, the culture of Busan has no choice but to be active. (Unlike Seoul)
You can find out something different from any other city in the world!
If you are interested in Busan or Korea, please leave some comments!
I will reply anytime!
(Maybe I can guide your trip. ^^)
